Beacon Music

About Us
The Beacon Christian Trust is a small Scottish charity founded in 1984, charity number SCO11582.
Initially our work was within prisons, mainly Glenochil High Security prison, where we ran twice weekly fellowship groups for 16 years. Out of this came involvement in rehabilitation of ex-prisoners by providing furniture and other "start up" materials for men starting afresh on "the outside". We also provided supported accommodation for periods lasting from a few days to several months, followed by on-going support in finding suitable work and developing independent living skills.
One unexpected offshoot of our work was the discovery of the extent to which Contemporary Christian Music (CCM) CDs, which we donated to prisoners and ex-prisoners, could be used in building people's faith and in reaching out to others.
As our prison ministry drew to a close, the doors opened in a new way through providing CCM CDs free of charge to public libraries throughout the length and breadth of Scotland.   Click on "Library Project" for more detail.
Over the last 20 years our managing trustee, Eddie Macguire, has designed and hand made an ever increasing number of Christmas cards which have proved meaningful and eagerly anticipated by the recipients.
Last year we embarked on our Christmas card/CD project, which is our biggest project yet, thus incorporating these two aspects of our work: further details of this can be found at "Christmas Card" and "Music and Artists"
We operate on a shoestring with our three trustees giving their time voluntarily, believing that we are following a call of God to reach the unreached in whatever creative way He leads us.
